Are you wondering what the right tire pressure for your Chevy Equinox is? There’s a factory-recommended PSI value for your Equinox, but it depends on your model (ranging from 2005 to 2022), the trim, and the OEM tire size.
Generally, the golden rule of thumb is to keep your Chevy Equinox tire pressure within 35 pounds per square inch (PSI)—for both the front and rear tires.
However, if you use high-performance tires or tires that did not come originally with the vehicle, then a slightly different tire pressure would be ideal. Also, if you modify your Equinox for larger wheels and new tires, the tire pressure for the new setup will differ.
Whatever the case, if your tire pressure falls below the factory-recommended psi level, an orange exclamation-point-shaped light will appear on your dashboard and will not go away until you properly inflate your tires.

How To Reset The Tpms Light On Chevy Equinox
The TPMS light indicator on your Equinox is a notification that alerts you of any significantly low air pressure or high-pressure loss in any of the tires.
If you’ve inflated your tires to the recommended pressure and the TPMS light remains illuminated, the system isn’t functioning properly, and you need to reset it. The steps to reset your TPMS will depend on the type of Equinox—those with or without a start button.
If your vehicle has a start button:
Step 1: set your Brake and press the start button
Step 2: Press the MENU button on the right side army
Step 3: Navigate to “TIRE PRESSURE PSI” using the UP, and DOWN arrows
Step 4: Now, select the “SET/CLR” button and click on the confirmation box.
Step 5: The horn will beep, a sign that the system is ready for reprogramming.
Now you can go to your tires and add or remove air until the horn beeps (a sign that the tire pressure of that particular tire has been relearned). Make sure you start with the tires on the driver’s side.
After relearning all four tires, fill each to the recommended PSI level and inspect the dash for the warning light.
It should have been deactivated by now.
If Your Vehicle Does Not Have A Start Button, Follow These Steps To Reset The Tpms:
Step 1: Set your break and turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine.
Step 2: Press and hold the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously. Wait for the horn to beep twice.
Step 3: Add or remove air from the tires, starting with the one on the driver’s side, and wait for the horn to beep to show that the tire has been re-learned.
Step 4: After filling all tires to their recommended psi value, turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine again to confirm that the warning light has gone.
Conclusion
Pumping your Equinox tire to the right pressure comes with many benefits. Ignore the noise about the negative effect this has on mpg because there’s none. The manufacturers have included the factory-recommended psi level for your vehicle for a reason.
After inflating your tires to the right pressure, you may need to reset your TPMS system. If you cannot reset the tire pressure warning light in the Chevy Equinox on the first try, go over the above steps.
If, after several attempts, no dice, then you may need to visit your dealership or refer to your car’s owner’s manual.
Ultimately, your equinox tire pressure levels will determine how the vehicle drives, fuel economy, and the health of your tires.
